Our Family has been driven, even inspired by the petrol in our Blood. 

Around 1895-1900 my Grandfather worked in Neckarsulm for NSU (which belongs to Audi today), NSU manufactured Bicycles, Motorcycles, and Cars. Upon returning to Switzerland my grandfather opened one of the first garages and helped found the Machine Factory Hochdorf and the SISTAG in Eschenbach. 

Nearing the end of the 30s my father Josef Bachmann started an apprenticeship as a Car Mechanic, collecting most of his knowledge by Saurer in Arbon. In 1953 he opened on Elterlichen Hof (Hauptstrasse 43) his own Garage. On October 10th 1955 he then opened the new more modern garage on the Hauptstrasse 2. In 1965 the company expanded, incorporating a Body Shop and a Paint Shop.

In 1977 he took a step further and opened yet another new shop on Industriestrasse 64. 

In February 1981, after finishing my Apprenticeship and gaining some work experience, I started working in our Family business. Soon my perspective of an Automobile as a Sport tool and as a Culture objekt became set in stone (still to this day).

Beginning 1989 our Company transformed into a stock corporation and my father signed the Company over to me, Daniel Bachmann.

After 47 Years of DKW/Audi and VW partnership, I wanted to try something new. In 2005 Bosch Car Service was the new Garage concept for all Car Brands and for Autowelt Bachmann the 1. Classic Garage for VW and Audi in Switzerland. 

On 1.1.2014 followed the next logical step for our Company's Garage Strategies, one aiming for joy long-term orientation, passing the company on. My long-standing employee Marc Gribi took over the Bosch Car Service and is to this day leading that Company (Garage) on. At the same time I gave him the company, I moved the "Autowelt Bachmann" company to the Industriestrasse 64, to further develop this new workshop concept with great pleasure.

Sadly on October 22 I suffered a bad work injury, putting me in a hospital unwillingly for 8 months. Fortunately, the succession plan had already been arranged beforehand and Kevin Frey was able to familiarize himself with the new challenge. 

2024 Marks the 10 Year Anniversary of Garage Gribi GmbH, the Opening of Autowelt Bachmann GmbH Lead now by Kevin Frey and the opening of Garage Bachmann AG Spare parts market and classic car market by yours truly Daniel Bachmann (cant let the others have all the fun).
